「什麼是興趣？當你花了好幾個小時在一件事情上面，不覺時光飛逝但覺樂在其中」在大學的新鮮人營隊中，我這麼對學弟妹說，找到你的興趣，這是你一輩子的寶藏。因為我真的很享受沉溺在興趣中沒有目的浪費時間，得到的滿心充實，那可以是讀一本好書，可以是為了研究某一個電腦程式的新功能，，因為是興趣沒有KPI，也不跟誰比較，也不需要任何人反餽，做的當下喜樂就是回報，還有什麼比興趣更快達到快樂的捷徑。
我的國小老師啟發了我寫作，國中後慢慢的越寫越有興趣，詩也寫、散文也寫，寫一寫全部收起來也從沒想過跟誰分享，純粹愛寫，寫完了，自己一再咀嚼，每次咀嚼就過癮一次，一次一次的掉入自己文字的喜悅中，寫到高中開始文字也成熟些了，開始投稿校刊，沒想到第一次嘗試新詩就中了首獎。常常覺得自己的腦袋想的事情不是身邊的朋友能理解或關注的，於是對文字的掌握成為我一生最大的寶藏，幫我梳理我的思緒，也讓心中的想法有了出路。學生時代，上課偷偷寫，下課還在寫，等公車也在醞釀每一個段落；出社會後，坐在星巴克寫，看著人來人往，從下午不覺到天黑；旅居異地的時候寫，他鄉舉目無親卻有滿腹牢騷，初見事物的悸動或是品嚐孤獨的時候寫。寫作成為我生命最大的出口，延展了我不致被困在在小小的皮囊中，不被困在鋼筋水泥中，不被困在天地一隅中，我的思想有多強大，我便無處不在。
從小愛看書，無聊時連架上的本草綱目都可以來翻一翻，也不覺得這是興趣或什麼，純粹無聊，有些事可做總是好的，從剛開始借圖書館的審查過優良讀物，到租書店沒有營養的言情小說，到後來有了零用錢，在書店流連忘返的各類書籍，有時讀讀純文學，有時偏好哲學，有時鑽研宗教學，有時看看社會史，有時翻翻藝術美學；開始自己賺錢後，更是享受那種一次可以買好幾千塊的書籍通通帶回家享用的快感。每一本書的閱讀，就像是作者帶你暢遊到另一個世界，用幾個小時的時間，陪他過完了幾年甚至是一輩子。看完書得到了什麼？因為我看的都不是實用性書籍，所以沒學到任何技能，但是卻滿滿的豐富了我的心靈，在我的潛意識中無時無刻陪伴了我，在人生高低起伏，偶爾會有一兩句話打動了我。從為了看書付出飄洋過海的快遞費運書，但一指尖幾百本書在手的電子書，型態變了，但享受不變。我花那麼多時間看書求什麼？無所求，當下即是目的。
剛開始為了減肥，我開始了我的騎馬之路，一不小心卻上了癮，原本的一個禮拜一次不夠，變成一個禮拜兩次，一個禮拜兩次不夠，每當得閒就在加碼多騎幾次。從起初只為了讓自己強迫動一個小時，到最後開始買書看影片，討論詢問，一步一步瞭解怎麼樣可以騎得更好，到最後越陷越深除了騎乘的樂趣外，我也愛上了與馬相處的過程。想我騎馬課的時間都是那麼的不便利，一個是在禮拜一晚上九點，通常騎完後精神無比亢奮，晚上無法準時入眠，但是我也不嫌晚的騎了四年；另一堂騎馬課是在禮拜六早上九點，也就是說我必須一個禮拜有六天都得七點半起床，沒有所謂的週末賴床，但我也甘之如飴的騎了三年，不管颳風下雨還是零下好幾度C，從不缺課。到現在養起了馬，每天花三四個小時跟馬在一起，有時候陪他吃草，在冷冷的冬天在草原唱著「為你我受冷風吹」，有時跟他一起訓練，你問我有必要每天都去嗎？其實沒有必要，但我願意，因為那是我的樂趣，看他跟我達成默契我開心，看他學會新技能我開心，連在冷風中看著他吃草我都開心。這幾年我看了超過20本以上關於馬的書，從騎術到關與馬的獸醫專科書，看了超過上百支影片，從剛開始怎麼騎好馬到怎麼照顧馬，每天花兩個小時的時間吸收關於馬的知識，說真的讀書上班都沒那麼認真。我需要變成一個很厲害的騎士嗎？我從來沒這個打算，我打算把我的馬訓練成一匹比賽用馬嗎？我對他也沒這個期待。就想要我們一起騎著到森林輕輕鬆鬆跑幾場，這樣就開心了。如果有一天我的騎術精進，或是成了horsewhisper，這也都不是我當初想要的目的。
還記得上一次你廢寢忘食做了什麼跟工作不相干，卻得到無比喜悅的事嗎？去做吧！那沒有回報的事，本身就是最大的回報！
